[MAT 42,310] Use of drilling fluids62 

62
(1) Except as provided in subregulation (2), the owner of an offshore installation shall ensure that no drilling fluid is used on an offshore installation unless that fluid is—
  • (a)water based or synthetic based;
  • (b)specified in the installation’s approved Discharge Management Plan; and
  • (c)discharged in accordance with that plan.
(2) The Chief Executive Officer may allow the use of a drilling fluid that is not water based or synthetic based if its use is reasonably necessary for geological, technical or safety reasons.
